Everything you need to get started with Remora Pay.
Quick Start
1. Get a USDC wallet
You need a wallet address on the Polygon network that can receive USDC. Any EVM-compatible wallet works — MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, Rainbow, or a hardware wallet like Ledger.
Make sure you’re on the Polygon network, not Ethereum mainnet. Your wallet address will look like: 0xAb5801a7D398351b8bE11C439e05C5B3259aeC9B
2. Install the plugin
Download the Remora Pay Gateway plugin and upload it to your WooCommerce store:
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin in your WordPress admin
- Upload the
cryptopay-gateway.zipfile - Click Activate
3. Configure
Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Remora Pay Gateway
- Enable the gateway
- Paste your USDC wallet address (Polygon)
- Click Save Changes
The plugin will automatically register with the Remora Pay platform and deploy a smart contract for your wallet. You’ll see a “Connected” status when ready.
4. You’re live
The “Pay with Card (Crypto)” option will now appear at your WooCommerce checkout. Customers can pay immediately.
How Payments Work
- Customer selects Remora Pay at your WooCommerce checkout and clicks Place Order.
- Customer is redirected to a secure hosted checkout page at
checkout.remorapay.com. - Customer selects a payment provider — Transak, MoonPay, or Coinbase.
- Customer completes payment with their card through the provider’s secure widget.
- The provider converts fiat to USDC and sends it to your payment smart contract on Polygon.
- The contract splits the payment: 98% to your wallet, 2% platform fee.
- Your WooCommerce order is automatically marked as Processing.
The entire process typically takes 30–60 seconds from the customer’s perspective.
Smart Contract
When you register, Remora Pay deploys an EIP-1167 minimal proxy contract on Polygon specifically for your wallet. This contract is:
- Immutable — once deployed, nobody (including us) can change where funds go
- Non-custodial — we never hold or control your funds
- Permissionless — anyone can call the
forward()function to trigger the split - Verifiable — the contract source code is verified on Polygonscan
The contract has three hardcoded parameters: your wallet address, our fee wallet address, and the fee percentage (200 basis points = 2%). These cannot be changed after deployment.
Supported Payment Methods
Through our three providers, your customers can pay with:
- Cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express
- Mobile wallets — Apple Pay, Google Pay
- Bank transfers — SEPA (Europe), ACH (US), Faster Payments (UK)
- Online payments — PayPal (via MoonPay)
- 40+ local payment methods depending on the customer’s country
Available methods vary by the customer’s location and the provider they select.
Settlement
- Currency: USDC (USD Coin)
- Network: Polygon
- Speed: Settlement typically completes within 1–5 minutes of the customer’s payment
- Fee: 2% platform fee, split atomically by the smart contract
- Provider fees: Charged separately to the customer by the onramp provider (typically 1–4% depending on payment method)
FAQ
Do I need a merchant account?
No. You just need a USDC wallet address on Polygon.
Do I need to do KYC?
No. Merchants don’t need to verify their identity. Customer KYC is handled by the onramp providers.
What currencies can customers pay in?
USD, EUR, GBP, and 40+ other fiat currencies. The customer pays in their local currency — the provider handles the conversion to USDC.
Are there chargebacks?
No. Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible. Once a payment is confirmed on the blockchain, it cannot be reversed. The onramp providers handle fraud prevention on their end.
Is Remora Pay custodial?
No. Payments are split by an immutable smart contract on Polygon. We never hold, control, or have access to your funds. If Remora Pay disappeared tomorrow, your contract would still forward payments to your wallet.
What WooCommerce versions are supported?
WooCommerce 8.0+ on WordPress 6.0+ with PHP 8.0+. The plugin supports both the classic checkout and HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage).
Can I change my wallet address?
Yes. Update it in the plugin settings. A new smart contract will be deployed for the new address. Your previous contract continues to work for any in-flight payments.
Where can I see my payments?
Visit checkout.remorapay.com/dashboard/YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS to see your payment history, volume, and transaction details.
